Protest Circus Elephant Cruelty at Ringling Bros. Show
When? July 14 2010 at 6:30 PM (7 Weeks ago) What? Demonstration
Where?
Staples Center - 1111 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles
With the arrival of the Ringling Bros. circus in LA this week, PETA is organizing what they hope will be the biggest anti-circus protest in the history of Los Angeles.
Don't miss it! Come and join this effort to show that you don't agree with the abuse of elephants for the sake of humans' entertainment and profit. The elephants used are routinely given electric shocks, manipulated into uncomfortable positions with cruel devices known as bullhooks (click on the link below for more info), and more.
If you were not aware of how harmful for animals circuses can be, hopefully this event will shed some light on the issue for you!
Similarly, the protesting that will go on prior to the show will serve to educate those near the venue - many about to see the show, many who may very well be unaware of what they are supporting by doing so.
If you'd like to know more, there's plenty info on the web about what goes on behind the scenes of circuses, or you can browse some of the links posted below, some of which include video recording of elephant circus training if you'd like to see it for yourself.
NOTE: It is said that protestors will start arriving by 5pm so if you can only make it earlier than 6:30 or something, you can still be part of the protest! Any contribution of time is meaningful.
Event will last till at least 7:30pm (start of the show).
